Job Description
Job Summary for CNC Mill Machinist
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines for various machining jobs.
- Prepare machines for new jobs by installing appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Establish and adjust machine work offsets and tool offsets.
- Manufacture custom, low-volume, and non-standard components, requiring frequent machine changeovers.
- Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine part specifications and machining requirements.
- Plan machining methods and operation sequences for manufacturing parts.
- Select cutting tools and determine optimal feeds and speeds based on material and operation.
- Load, review, and edit CNC programs at machine controls as necessary.
- Produce and verify first-piece components to ensure conformity with specifications.
- Inspect parts during machining using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Apply GD&T standards during inspection of machined components.
- Monitor accuracy, tool condition, and surface finish throughout production.
- Make adjustments to offsets, tooling, programs, or methods as needed to maintain tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve setup, programming, tooling, or quality issues.
- Communicate technical concerns to Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
- Work independently to complete machining tasks while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Maintain machines, tools, and work areas in clean and orderly condition.
- Adhere to shop policies and safety protocols.
